The SSURF Board members recently held a webinar with facility directors and government relation’s representatives to introduce themselves, outline SSURF’s plans for the future, and to answer questions. The Board's calendar of events and programs for 2017 are outlined below.
- The Board in planning an Annual Meeting for members (tentatively scheduled for this summer). The date and venue should be available shortly.
- The Board has started developing a pilot program to sponsor visits to user facilities by staffers. They hope for this program to start in the late summer or early fall.
- Plans are already underway to hold a User Science Exhibition on Capitol Hill towards the end of the year. The Board is awaiting an invitation from the House Science Caucus.
- During the past few months, members of the SSURF Board/Operations Committee have been working with the Office of Science to explore the feasibility of a training reciprocity program for DOE user facilities. A Working Group has been formed and will holds its first meeting shortly.
